When You Need More Strength

Guest Post by Rebecca Barlow Jordan

Are you tired? Need more strength?

Spring is coming. And for some, it’s already here. But maybe you’re living in one of the colder zones—and you’re still waiting.

Or maybe you’re trying to convince your mind, body, and spirit about the promise of springtime. Only, they’re not listening.

When You Need More Strength and You’re Tired of Trying

You may need more strength. But maybe you’re even tired of trying. Sometimes we call that “tired of being tired.”

If you’re like me, some days I feel like a hurricane-battered home (or around here, it’s tornadoes), reduced to a sagging frame. I’m eager for the journey and to continue the plans God designed for me. But at times I feel like I have nothing left to give. Sometimes, those emotions can stem from trying to do too many things on my own.

Maybe you’ve experienced those feelings, too, or know someone who has. Does your spirit say, “Yes!” But your body cries, “No way!” We all carry burdens God never intended for us to carry.

But the One who never grows tired or weary knows our limitations. When you need more strength, and burdens are too heavy, where do you turn? What can you do?

When You Need More Strength, Listen to Your Father’s Heart

When you need more strength and your burdens are too heavy, discover your faithful Father’s heart. Listen to what He may be speaking to you:

“I am sufficient for every task. I will give you the power you need to keep going. I am the One who never grows tired or weary. My strength will be yours. Not only will I give you rest when you wait on Me; but I will also recharge your batteries, refresh your body and spirit, and renew your passion to say in the race. Some days you will feel tired–tired of trying, running, or falling. Tired of struggling to keep up. Those are the times you especially need Me. As you cast all your cares, weariness, and weaknesses on Me, I will overhaul your body, mind, and spirit. I will breathe new life into you if you will only ask.”

Do you not know? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth.  He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom (Isaiah 40:28 NIV).

And read one of His promises to you:

But those who wait for the Lord [who expect, look for, and hope in Him] Will gain new strength and renew their power; They will lift up their wings [and rise up close to God] like eagles [rising toward the sun]; They will run and not become weary, They will walk and not grow tired (Isaiah 40:31 AMP).

And He has so many more promises waiting for you!¹
