Nothing is Too Hard for our Creator God, Nothing

“Lord God, you created heaven and earth by your great power and outstretched arm; nothing is too hard for you!”—Jeremiah 32:17(CEB).

One recent morning, as I was preparing to spend time with the Lord in my sun room, I glanced outside to see the largest spider web I believe I’ve ever encountered. I slipped on my shoes and stepped outside to get a closer view of the monstrosity.

Strung between two trees—about ten feet apart—was the most spectacular piece of spider webbing I’d ever seen. The web’s circumference was probably five feet. Holding this silky mesh to the tree were three threads on each side. Just amazing! I knew it had been spun overnight because I’d spent the previous evening sitting in my backyard swing visiting with a friend and the web wasn’t visible then.

Although I’m not a fan of any kind of spider, I’m fascinated by their delicate creations, produced from their own silk. My research reveals all spiders produce silk, but not all spiders spin webs. The silk is used to capture prey, to protect their offspring, to assist them as they move, to provide shelter and to reproduce. However, not all spiders use silk in the same way.

How great is our God, the maker of heaven and earth, who with His great power and outstretched arm, created such diversity—even among spiders.

Consider God’s awesome handiwork as observed in the hatching of eggs. For example, the eggs of the potato bug hatch in seven days; those of the canary in 14 days; the barnyard hen in 21 days; the eggs of ducks and geese hatch in 28 days and those of the mallard in 35 days; parrot eggs and those of the ostrich hatch in 42 days. Notice something they have in common? They are all divisible by seven.

God’s design is also revealed in His arrangement of sections and segments, as well as in the number of grains.

  • Each watermelon has an even number of stripes on the rind.
  • Each orange has an even number of segments.
  • Each ear of corn has an even number of rows.
  • Each stalk of wheat has an even number of grains.
  • Every bunch of bananas has on its lowest row an even number of bananas, and each row decreases by one, so that one row has an even number and the next row an odd number.
  • All grains are found in even numbers on the stalks, and the Lord specified 30 fold, 60 fold, and a 100 fold, all even numbers.

We see His perfect creation in the waves of the sea that roll into shore 26 to the minute in all kinds of weather. God also created the flowers to blossom at certain specified times during the day.

Linnaeus, the great botanist, once said, “If I had a conservatory containing the right kind of soil, moisture and temperature, I could tell the time of day or night by the flowers that were open and those that were closed.”

Nothing is too hard for our Creator God, nothing!
