Professional Bio
Carol Round earned her undergraduate teaching degree in journalism from Oklahoma State University in 1975 and a master’s degree in education with an emphasis in English in 1981 from Northeastern State University, the same year she discovered she was pregnant with her second son. She also received her library media certification in 1993 from Oklahoma University.
After 17 years in the high school classroom and 13 as the library media specialist, she retired in 2005, knowing God had other plans for her life. Did you know you won’t find the word, “retirement,” in the Bible? Carol calls it redirection and reminds others who are close to “retirement,” to seek God’s redirection for their lives.
After her weekly column started appearing in newspapers across the state in late 2005, she began to receive invitations to speak before women’s groups. She laughs when she tells women the only “C” she made in college was in speech. “I was so nervous I would cling to the podium to keep from fainting. God does have a sense of humor!”
Words, especially God’s Word, are her passion. Her weekly columns—which run in 14 Oklahoma newspapers, two national newspapers and several international publications—have been compiled into three volumes: A Matter of Faith, Faith Matters and by FAITH alone.
In February 2012, Westbow Press released Journaling with Jesus: How to Draw Closer to God, a short but insightful book to inspire and encourage readers to begin keeping a daily prayer journal as a spiritual discipline to draw closer to our Heavenly Father. A companion workbook, The 40-Day Challenge, was released in September 2012 to help readers get started on their journey to a closer relationship with God. All books may be purchased at amazon.com or directly from the author.
In 2014, she released her first children's book, Nana's 3 Jars: Giving Generously, the first in a three-part series to teach children the value of giving, saving and spending money. The second and third in the series, Nana's 3 Jars: Saving Pennies and Nana's 3 Jars: Spending Wisely, were released in 2015. All three are interactive books which are great for parents and grandparents to use with the children in their lives as a teaching tool as well as to share family time together.
Carol has appeared as a guest on numerous Christian television and radio programs. However, her passion is encouraging women at retreats and prayer journaling workshops to seek a deeper relationship with Jesus. She is a vibrant speaker, teacher and inspirational storyteller. Her talks are filled with exciting, often humorous stories and practical applications that teach women Biblical truths and glorify Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. Let Carol introduce Jesus to the women at your next event in an honest, fresh and appealing way so that fears will fade and hearts will fill with His Abundant Joy.
